The universities, colleges, and museums that comprise ANKAs institutional membership participate in its governance by appointing a representative to the Board of Directors. The ANKA Executive Committee, consisting of the four Officers and two elected board members, reports to the Board and is charged with assuring academic integrity, organizational oversight, and financial and programmatic accountability.

Administrative and programmatic oversight is provided by the Executive Director. ANKA Membership is available at four levels: Institutions, Affiliated Institutions and Corporations, General, and Students.
